About the Project
HeatInvest is funded by the Interregional Innovation Investment I3 Instrument. The Programme supports interregional innovation projects aiming to strengthen regional ecosystems, fostering sustainable investment collaborations, and accelerating market uptake of research results through Smart Specialisation (S3) and interregional collaboration.
HeatInvest bridges Europe’s innovation gap by empowering less-developed regions to invest smarter in clean heat. We transfer proven practices from leading regions, activate mid-level players (clusters, agencies, cities, R&D), and align with the EU’s latest net-zero, renewable heat, and heat-pump policies—turning cohesion into climate impact.

The Project
By engaging key target groups within the relevant industrial ecosystem, the project will directly advance the commercialisation and uptake of innovative heat pump technologies and geothermal energy initiatives.

The Partnership
The project brings together 9 partners (3 clusters, 2 associations, 2 regional authorities, 1 manufacturer and 1 policy research organisation) from 8 EU countries (Greece, Germany, Belgium, Bulgaria, Poland, Hungary, Spain, France).

The Programme
The Interregional Innovation Investments (I3) Instrument, under the European Regional and Development Fund (ERDF), supports interregional innovation projects in their scale-up and commercialisation phases. It helps overcome regulatory and market barriers, bringing projects to investment level.
